Matthew Kadushin, Esq., General Counsel

Matthew Kadushin started as the General Counsel for the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) in 2016. As General Counsel, Mr. Kadushin provides legal guidance to the Board and all divisions of the CCRB. Mr. Kadushin also oversees all outside litigation matters involving the CCRB; ensures that the CCRB is in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws; and coordinates with NYC Law Department on policy and legislative matters.

Mr. Kadushin began his legal career working as a public defender for nearly a decade, first at the Public Defender Service in Washington, D.C. and later at the Bronx Defenders. As a public defender, Mr. Kadushin tried cases ranging from misdemeanor simple assault to murder. While working at the Bronx Defenders, Mr. Kadushin assisted in establishing the Defenders’ Academy, an innovative training program for public defenders to hone their trial skills. Mr. Kadushin left the Bronx Defenders to join Joseph and Kirschenbaum, LLP. At Joseph and Kirschenbaum, Mr. Kadushin spent over five years prosecuting cases as a “private attorney general” under federal and state civil rights and labor laws. After spending nearly 15 years litigating cases in federal and state courts, Mr. Kadushin spent a year working as a general counsel for a “start-up” company.

Mr. Kadushin has a Juris Doctor degree from New York University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Muhlenberg College. Mr. Kadushin is admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C., New York, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, and United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
